Model Bulksim
The model BULKSIM can be used for many bulk terminals.
The model covers all activities on the terminal and because of the flexible structure many types of terminals (ore, coal, grain, oil) in many configurations can be simulated.
Moreover it is possible to insert this model in the model HARBORSIM. In this way not only the behavior of the bulk terminal itself but also the influence of the ship traffic calling other terminals can be dealt with.
The components of the model
- bulk carriers with different dimensions
- trains, inland barges or trucks carrying out the inland transport
- train unloaders (tipplers), crushers, conveyor belts, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders and unloaders each with breakdown and repair periods described by statistical distribution functions.
- storage of the commodity as stock piles, silos
- parking areas, sidings etc.
The general configuration of the model
- a number of berths
- transport chains for incoming commodity and leaving commodity, consisting of belts stackers, reclaimers, train unloaders or loaders, ship loaders or unloaders, crushers stock piles or silos
- shift times
Examples of model output
- ship-waiting times presented with statistical characteristics
- required storage facilities, number of berths, quay lengths, transshipment capacities, transport equipment, store capacities etc to meet the design requirements of the terminal
Animations
- because of its flexible structure each application allows for a typical animation characterising the simulation of reality.
